self portrait

It has been about 6 months since I worked in oil so I thought I'd give it another stab. I am hoping that working in oil will improve my sense of color in my work across the board. We'll see... These are progress shots of a self portrait thats still a work in progress.

Pygmalion

I have always had an interest in the Pygmalion and Galataea story. I did a lithograph of it a couple of years ago and I'd thought I'd revisit the theme. This time I made it a little more sci-fi.

Mary of the Blue Lights

This week's CHOW was "Mary of the Blue Lights". She is supposed to be a young orphan that survives by the help of invisible (except to her) blue lights, interpreted however we like. I thought "Mary" was reminiscent of something religious so I went with a halo. Also I kept this painting in a greyscale. Color has been giving me trouble lately and I just wanted to focus on technique.

Figure Drawings

I love drawing from the live figure. Its is the only way to learn to draw people. Heres a couple of recent drawings from a model. In other news, the main site has been updated in the gallery section and a new comic has been put up.

Site Update

I updated the main site, so check it out. As far as layout goes, I think I found something I like. I'll stick to this for a while anyway. I also put up some new work so head on over to the gallery.

If you see anything wrong with the site (broken links, images not showing up, typos, or anything other suggestions) just send me an email.

busy-ness

With all the traveling last week, I really didn't get a whole lot of drawing done and definitely no weeklies. Lame, I know. So this is a short sketch I did tonight.

E comic ending

For those of you following the Everglades Comic, its almost done. Next week is officially the end. Since I am no longer in the Everglades I figured it would be hard to write more comics. I am, however, planning some character studies of fictional people in the Everglades. It will be a sort of continuation of the E Comic. As a special guest artist appearance a great guy, (and perhaps E Comic's biggest fan) Gordon Anderson, made this comic. I loved it and I think you will too.
